Berti Opens a New Corner at Shinsegae Gangnam, Seoul

The world of Italian craftsmanship has found a new home in one of Seoul’s most prestigious retail destinations: Shinsegae Gangnam, where Berti is now presented through a dedicated corner created in collaboration with Chefriend, Tablo’s partner in South Korea.

Located at Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam, in the Central City complex at 176 Sinbanpo-ro, Seocho-gu, the store is directly connected to one of Seoul’s major transport and lifestyle hubs: Express Bus Terminal Station. Central City itself brings together department store shopping, restaurants, cafés, a cinema, hotel facilities, transport connections and lifestyle destinations, making the area one of the busiest and most strategic commercial points in the city.

Shinsegae Gangnam is not simply a department store: it is one of Korea’s most influential luxury retail platforms. Recent Korean business reporting highlighted the Gangnam branch as the first department store in Korea to surpass KRW 3 trillion in sales, confirming its role as a key destination for premium and luxury brands.

For Berti, being present in this environment means reaching a refined audience that values design, quality, culinary culture and authentic craftsmanship.

Founded in Scarperia, Tuscany, Coltellerie Berti has been producing handmade knives since 1895. Each knife carries with it the heritage of Italian artisanal production: skilled hands, selected materials and a deep respect for the gestures of cooking. Berti describes its knives as handmade by Italian artisans, combining tradition and innovation in objects that are both functional tools and pieces of craftsmanship.

This identity is well reflected in the new corner. Light wood, clear glass showcases, and properly positioned knives form a professional, sophisticated display. The wall display offers the blades rhythm and visibility, while the middle counters let shoppers see each knife's shape, handle, material, and purpose.

Chef knives, carving knives, smaller preparation knives, cheese knives, gift sets, and wooden presentation boxes are displayed like a gallery. Berti handles, in classic natural tones, vibrant red, and contemporary finishes, give personality and convey the brand's balance between heritage and design.

This type of corner holds significant value in a market such as South Korea, where retail is evolving into an experiential journey and consumers anticipate more than just a basic product showcase. Seoul’s upscale retail landscape thrives on thoughtfully designed spaces, collaborations with department stores, and innovative shop-in-shop concepts that enable international brands to engage with local consumers in a more impactful and unforgettable manner.

Thanks to Chefriend’s work in South Korea, the new Berti corner at Shinsegae Gangnam becomes more than a sales point: it is a place where customers can understand the value behind each knife, discover the story of Scarperia craftsmanship and experience the pleasure of choosing a tool designed to last.

For Tablo, this opening represents another important step in bringing the excellence of Italian lifestyle brands to Asia. Berti’s presence in Shinsegae Gangnam confirms how Italian artisanal culture continues to resonate strongly in the region, especially when presented in the right environment, with the right partner and with the attention to detail that such products deserve.
